August 24, 2004 - More than 500 auto and aviation enthusiasts came out in near perfect weather to EAA's Pioneer Airport Saturday as 150 British autos and several UK airplanes were on display for EAA's annual British Wings and Wheels event.
Along with numerous MGs, Triumphs and Jaguars were a 1953 Jaguar XK 120 MC; a 1972 Cooper Mini; 1960 Austin Healey Sprite; a 1979 Caterham Lotus Super 7.
UK aircraft included the Spitfire from EAA's Eagle Hangar (on loan from the Seattle Museum of Flight); a DeHavilland Chipmunk owned by Vic Stottlemeyer of Milwaukee; and a Scottish Aviation Bulldog brought over by Russ Bunting, Detroit, Michigan.
Arriving too late for the event but arriving nonetheless were a 1931 DeHavilland Puss Moth and a 1935 Hornet Moth, flown by Ron Souch, from near Southampton, Richard Seeley, from London and Tom Buffaloe from Colorado.

Picture perfect weather aided a large
turnout of vehicles and visitors.

An Alvis Stalwart, amphibious military equipment support vehicle, appeared courtesy of Tony Roca, Franklin, Wisconsin.
During the day, several attendees enjoyed a vehicle restoration clinic put on by Jim Demerath. And a P-51 Mustang flown by Tony Buechler, powered by the Rolls Royce Merlin engine, made several flybys. Highlight of the day was a parade of vehicles at 3 p.m.
The EAA Young Eagles program registered 35 more kids for their first flights during the day.
